“Good things come to people who wait, but better things come to those who go out and get them.” ~Anonymous
On the eve of my next book release, I am feeling this quote down to my very bones. I've worked very hard to reach author status over the past five years and every time I receive a note from a reader, I feel a multitude of emotions ranging from humility as a story teller able to build a world readers--hopefully--enjoy. To gratitude for the opportunity readers give me and determination to do better not only for them but also myself.
From the first day I decided I wanted to pen stories I refused to give up, and even more so when I didn't know what direction to go. I found a way and if the path was muddled, I just took slower steps like the ant. Slow, yet sure footed.
And here I am. I have my third book releasing tomorrow and five more on the way, just in the Sexy Siesta series. That's proof going out and getting what you want works.
So I ask, what good things do you want for yourself? Are you working toward making them yours? Even if one step at a time?
This past weekend I hit burnout in a big way. When Friday rolled around my brain sizzled and fizzled out until there was nothing left but a pile of mush. Balancing three jobs will do that to you. Add the death of my beloved iPad, the task of homeschooling four kiddos, and an upcoming book release, it's a miracle I didn't hit total meltdown earlier.
I stepped back from the computer, gave the kids a couple of days off and totally did what I wanted, which didn't include anything work related. I grabbed a paperback--remember no iPad--tossed myself on the bed and enjoyed a little me time. I cooked a kick-ass dinner for my brood and even enjoyed some Kinect games, something I don't get to do a lot with my eighteen hour work days.
People think that because I work at home I get all the free time I can handle. Think again! It's actually the other way around. I'm ALWAYS on mom duty since there's no sending them off to school (not complaining, it's just my truth) and my #1 also works from home so there's that. 0-o
There's always work to be done, someone that needs me to do something for them in the house, and then my own work load. Everyone has a breaking point. I found mine around noon last Friday. It's also the time my iPad with ALL my scheduled dates, reference notes for my writing and new book ideas was lost.
The apocalypse of burn-outs arrived.
I knew my limits, so I stepped back from work and let the world of social media revolve without my two cents for a few days.
And you know what, when I disconnected, everything feel into place. Ideas started flowing and I listened. But I let them brew. I didn't run back to the computer. I listened and waited.
Come Monday morning, all bets were off. I woke up, my feet hit the floor and the devil himself shivered with fear!
My mojo is back and I'm on fire. All I needed was a moment to myself so I could listen to what mattered most to me.
If you're experiencing the onset of your own apocalypse, unplug from the world and take a break. It's a sign that your mind needs a break, then when you're ready come back and take the world by storm.

Good morning my lovelies! I need your help in spreading the word about the third Sexy Siesta Novella!
I'm still in need of people to sign up for my Thunderclap campaign so I'm shamelessly begging. The rules are that I have to reach 100 signups for the Thunderclap to go live. There's only a few days left on the ticker. All you have to do is agree for Thunderclap to share the pre-written message if the goal of 100 people is met by deadline. Then you're done! Nothing else to it. So whadaya say? Can you help an author out?
Just click the image or link below and it will take you to the Thunderclap page.
Thank you so much! You all rock!
Today I'm wrapping up the first round of edits on Sunrise For Three and I have Recon Marines on the brain! From their code of honor to their take-no-bullshit stance, everything about them calls my attention. It doesn't hurt that all that man is wrapped up nicely in a sharp, well fit physical appearance too hard to resist either. ;)
Marc and Colt, the heroes from Sunrise for Three, are a mixture of stubborn over protectiveness and kick-ass bad boy Marine ready to lay down their lives to protect others. It's a package no heroine can resist and Mia is proof their charms are additive.
What do you think? Could you refuse Marc's sexy eyes or Colt's devilish grin?
Sunrise for Three releases October 31st. Are you ready for these two former Recon Marines?
This week has been a blur of work and then some. Anyone else feel like they went around with the hulk and lost? It's time to shake the week long haul and get to the good stuff, don't you think!
I've recently been asked why some of my posts show up in their FB feeds while some are lost or not seen. Since FB has a way of playing mind reader and "knows" what fans want to see, I figured I'd post a catchup post here on the blog at the end of the week for anyone that might have missed a post of the sexy bad boys, giveaway winners or just randomness that might be interesting to you from the week.
Sound good? Awesome!
It was love a Highlander day.
"OPPSS! We slept in and I missed my two hours of silent time for writing, but I woke to find out it's Highlander week. This totally makes up for me missing my morning writing session."

For this Tuesday's Teaser I'm sharing the English version of the book trailer for His By Sunrise! Blake and Bella's love story is on the mind since I'm working with their characters again. I'll be officially announcing the news of their full length later on this month, closer to the release of Sunrise For Three. I think you'll all love what I have in store for this series and it all starts here, with His By Sunrise.
I hope you enjoy and for those of you who have read His By Sunrise (or Tequila Sunset), would you consider leaving a review, even just a sentence or two, at Amazon? Thanks for helping to make an author's day! Those reviews count toward getting noticed by other readers, your help is greatly appreciated. :)

Until next time...keep it sexy!
I received a newsletter today advising me that this week is in fact Highlander week! That's right my lovelies...men in kilts!
I wish I wrote the genre, however, since that's not the case I can at least enjoy the yummy goodness that inspires the sexy stories from some favorite authors.
Who's with me? Yeah, I knew I wasn't the only one that loves a Scottish man in plaid. ;)
Here's my inspiration.
Just a small note: I do not hold the rights to the above picture.
What a coincidence that I started reading a Highlander book last night. I'm three chapters into Suzanne Enoch's The Devil Wears Kilts.
Now I'd really really love to hear about your favorite Highlander reads or the awesome authors that write about hunky heroes in kilts.
Sorry for the delay in announcing the Fall Into Romance winners! I've been locked away in the writing cave working on Sunrise For Three and now that the MS is off my desk for a few days I'm playing catch up.
